About Us

Troop 302 has always been a part of Hallsville, TX. Officially, we have been around since the 80s, but eyewitness accounts suggest that our merry troop was around before WWII.
We have never been a BIG troop, but currently, we have a respectable number of patrols. (Patrols are small groups of scouts that work together inside of a troop)
One of the prides and joys of our troop is the scout hut. A work of master craftsmanship, this architectural beauty has been housing our troop for many, many years. The hut is a log cabin that is across the road from 203 Church St over by the DQ on Main street. A totem pole sits outside, towering above scouts as they enter the building. Inside, we have our many, many awards we’ve acquired over the years, such as numerous 100% boy’s life awards, and more recent awards, like our golden spoon from the dessert cook-off. Every Monday, scouts young and old, tall and small, meet to have scouting FUN!!!
Every year in spring, we vote for who will lead our troop. (the scouts, I'm not including the adults.) The positions below are the scouts who run our troop:

  • Senior Patrol Leader (he is in charge of ALL the scouts)
  • Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (the SPL's assistant)
  • Quarter Master (This guy is in charge of all our supplies)
  • Scribe (he keeps a record of what happens at meetings)
  • Webmaster (that's me! I'm the guy who maintains the website)
  • Librarian (He accounts for all the troop's books)
  • Chaplain's Aid (This person meets the religious needs of the troop)
Lately, we have been receiving lots of new scouts. Maybe you or your child will be next.
